Piran is one of the most ancient towns in Slovenia, and also one of the most beautiful. The nearly 500 years of Venetian influence can be seen in the town’s gorgeous architecture. A long history of art and culture is evident not only in museums, but down every street and alleyway, imbibed into every aspect of local life. World-renowned violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini has had a strong influence on his hometown. You can see one of his prized violins during a visit to his old house, along with a statue in his likeness at Piran’s main square, also named for the composer. Grand buildings line the perimeter of Tartini Square, including Municipal Palace, Tartini Theatre, Maritime Museum, Aquarium, Marine Biological Station, Baroque House and Apollonio Palace. Piran’s largest church, the Church of Saint George, sits atop a hill that overlooks the town on one side and the ocean on the other – truly a magnificent sight. You’ll have the enchanted sense of walking through a storybook, gazing at the narrow lanes, fishing nets, red roofs, and charming houses that make up this magical town. Piran is a treat for all of the senses – including your sense of wonder.

Along our sweeping tour of the Slovene coast, we will stop off at the coastal towns of Portorož, Izola and Koper, where we will learn all about the sights, history and customs from a local tour guide. Portorož, translated to “Port of Roses”, is well-known for its stunning beaches and high-class hotels and casinos. We’ll then check out the nearby natural Sečovlje salt pans, where traditional methods are used to extract salt directly from the sea water. Following, we’ll stop at the lovely fishing town of Izola, capped off with a visit to Koper, a significant European port and the largest Slovene coastal city. All throughout the trip, you will have the opportunity for incredible ocean views and backdrops of the Alps; there will be no shortage of stunning photo ops!
