Slovenia’s capital city of Ljubljana serves as the country’s cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative hub. The city’s remarkable history is etched into the impressive architecture and natural beauty. Ljubljana Castle is nestled in the old town centre, with the river Ljubljanica running lazily alongside.

Our tour of Ljubljana will take us to see both ancient and modern architecture. At the old town centre, we will see architect Jože Plečnik’s fine works, who played a key role in designing the city’s most notable bridges, squares, and parks. In just over 30 years, he built Ljubljana up from a provincial city to the country’s great capital, entirely revamping the city’s urban centre. You can catch sight of his influence all over the city, but primarily along the river Ljubljanica. On our tour, we will see the city’s most significant buildings and monuments, including Ljubljana Town Hall, the Triple Bridge, the Shoemaker’s Bridge, Ljubljana Cathedral, the Robba Fountain, Prešeren Square and Congress Square, among others. The city is represented by the Ljubljana Dragon, which can be seen atop Ljubljana Castle’s tower as well as the Ljubljanica-crossing Dragon Bridge. The dragon stands for courage, power and greatness. To round out the tour, we will travel via funicular railway to the Castle Hill, taking in Ljubljana Castle and breath-taking views of the surrounding region.
